Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling "Immutable Island of Melodious Sound" is a Buddhist temple and retreat located on 25 acres in Wood Valley, the Ka'u District of the Island of Hawai'i.
Established in 1973 by the Venerable Nechung Rinpoche, Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling is a center for the dissemination of the Buddhist teachings. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has visited and taught here. Visiting Tibetan lamas of all lineages are invited to teach programs at events open to the public. This is a place for great masters to teach and for students to practice teachings through contemplation and meditation.
Wood Valley Temple, as it is known locally, has a guest house and retreat facilities. Guest rooms have an Asian Pacific decor and original works of art grace the facility. Select the room with your favorite theme for a relaxing getaway or book the full facility for a group workshop or retreat. Quiet, charming and peaceful - this is a wonderful place to relax, reflect and explore this facinating area of Ka'u on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Staying here is a unique, memorable experience and everyone is welcome!
Over the past four decades, NDDL hosted programs with over 50 lamas of all the lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. Some lamas have come on multiple visits, gave teachings on the Foundational Practices, Highest Yoga Tantra, Mahamudra and Dzogchen. In the coming years, we intend to continue with our tradition of inviting high calibre lamas. Your donations support the temple and its projects. Your offerings are much appreciated.
